Who Gave Jacob for a Spoil?

On October 7th, 2023, a terrible and heart-breaking tragedy befell the people of Israel. Thousands of Israelis were ruthlessly and bitterly murdered, kidnapped, raped, and mutilated by Hamas. Women and children (even infants) were shown no pity; the aged, elderly, and weak were ruthlessly murdered in their homes with heartless brutality. Blood-stained kitchen walls, decapitated civilian corpses, abducted family members still held in captivity — truly, God will bring those who have committed and are responsible for these atrocities into judgment for their
actions!

The nation of Israel has not seen the likes of such terror against the Jewish people since the Holocaust. Perhaps the cry, “Never again!” resonates in your own heart, as it does those who have experienced the nightmare of systematic and blood-thirsty persecution of the Jews. Many Jews (and Gentiles) desire to express their solidarity with the nation of Israel in these precarious times. Many Jews around the world are outraged, confused, wounded, and afraid given what has recently transpired. Israel seems more vulnerable than ever. Even Israel’s world- renowned military and intelligence forces like the IDF and Schin Beit failed to secure the people of Israel from a comparatively weak, incapable, and seemingly inferior threat like Hamas. The walls were breached in a moment, and now Israel will never be the same. How could such a thing happen? Was it merely an oversight? a mistake? a failure to respond to all the warning signs? My reader, while this is all certainly true, Jews around the world have failed to ask the hardest question in light of such a devastating and humiliating event…

“Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law. Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.” (Isa. 42:24-25)

Dear Jewish friend, do you remember the Law and Prophets? Perhaps you too, have not known that the LORD gave Israel into the hands of Hamas because of their refusal to walk in His ways and disobedience to the Law of Moses. Do not mistake this for anti-semitism: this is the same message of Israel’s godly, ancient prophets of old!

“…Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider. Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.” (Isa. 1:3-4)

Israel has provoked their God to anger! It is the God of Israel which broke down the border walls and defenses of Israel, and raised up the heathen to do unspeakable acts of violence to the weakest and most helpless!

“O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation. I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil…“ (Isa. 10:5-6)

“The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.” (Deut. 32:25)

Are you in disbelief? Are you angry at these words?

“Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you. For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs. They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves.” (Hab. 1:5-7)

“They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities…I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.” (Deut. 32:21)

The God of Israel said you wouldn’t believe when you heard it. He said He would provoke you to anger because you have provoked Him. “Just and right is He” (Deut. 32:4)! Israel has forsaken the LORD, and thus the God of Israel has hid Himself from them!

“Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee. And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters. And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.” (Deut. 32:18-20)

O son or daughter of Israel, the LORD has hidden His face from Israel for their unbelief in their Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth, whom you have crucified! “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36).

God is angry at the Jews for rejecting His Anointed! As it is written, “The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes“ (Ps. 118:22-23). Because they have rejected their Jewish Messiah, and refused to have Him reign over them (Gen. 37:10; Deut. 18:15-18; Isa. 53:3), God will deal with them as He did with Joseph’s brethren, and bring upon them the “time of Jacob’s trouble” (Jer. 30:7)! Be warned: a holocaust of the Jews is coming with one worse than Hitler, who will slaughter 2/3 of all Jews worldwide!

“And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.” (Zech. 13:8)

“…a king of fierce countenance…shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.” (Daniel 8:23-24)

The God of Israel intends to stain the pride of the Jews that they will “never again” be so systematically hunted and exterminated my friend! Even if Israel’s bunkers were as deep as hell, and their fortresses as high as heaven, no Jew can escape what is coming!

“Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down…And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.” (Amos 9:2-4)

The Iron Dome will not shield you! The IDF will not protect you! America and the mighty West like Egypt will fail to deliver you, as it is written “Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion” (Isaiah 30:3). Be not as Israel of old, of whom it is written, “They have belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us” (Jer. 5:12)! Only after the God of Israel sends worldwide tribulation of unspeakable and unprecedented death, destruction, and misery upon His people will a small remnant of Jews be finally brought to faith and repentance in Yeshua their Messiah!

“…they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.” (Zech. 12:10)

“…they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.” (Zech. 13:9)

Jewish friend, repent and believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, before the day of the LORD’s anger come upon you (Zeph. 2:1-2)!
